When she shows up in your life after all these years…

The day she showed up in my life, I was insecure at first.

I had never seen someone so attractive, delightful, and generous.

I’d heard so many stories about her, and now I could see for myself what she was really like.

As she strolled into my life with her luxurious look and fresh perspective, I knew I wanted to be her friend. She fit into my life pretty easily, yet I questioned how that was possible.

My biggest worry: I wasn’t going to fit into her life. You see, I had been living in scarcity my whole life. It was a belief system instilled during my childhood. No one talked about it or even used that word—scarcity—but I KNEW I wasn’t good enough for abundance.

There was an underlying fear that everything I had could be taken away at any moment—and that fear followed me into adulthood, into relationships, and into entrepreneurship.

Until I met Abundance. That beautiful, attractive, delightfully airy energy that kicks fear and scarcity to the curb and says:

“Things are going to be different from now on.”

I finally believed I was worthy of being friends with Abundance.

But it wasn’t always like this. Scarcity had been whispering in my ear that I was never going to be good enough and I believed it.

You see, Abundance had been on the periphery of my awareness since I was a kid. I always knew I wanted to be her friend. It felt, though, that she was just out of reach. I wasn’t cool enough to have her in my life. I sure as heck didn’t make enough money or nice enough things. I didn't know what it felt like to be as luxurious as her, so how could I possibly be her friend?

When Abundance stepped into my life that day, I felt the echoes of little Melanie’s insecurities in my head. Not knowing what to say, I blurted out the first thing that came to mind—the thing I had always wanted to ask:

“How can I be your friend?”

She smiled and replied simply:

“You decide to be.”

Huh? Here I was thinking my relationship with Abundance was controlled by something outside of myself… when, according to her, it’s controlled by—me?

That was the day I learned that Scarcity had been walking alongside me showing me what I wouldn't ever have. What I wasn’t ever going to be. What I couldn’t do. And I was letting Scarcity be the one in control of my time, love, and money.

I had been operating under the assumption that I had to be ready – I had to have enough wealth, look a certain way, have a specific education – in order to be friends with Abundance.

And that caused me to believe that Scarcity was the bad guy when Scarcity really just held the secrets to living a life of Abundance. Scarcity was a teacher and would give me the tools I needed to step into a relationship with Abundance, if I really listened to the truth.

We have to be willing to look at the darkness in order to see the light.

I’d like to invite you to take a little journey into the darkness of Scarcity with me so you can find the light of Abundance. That’s why I created a FREE guided mentorship experience called Secrets of Scarcity.

In one hour, I’ll show you how to understand Scarcity at a totally different level by walking you through the three secrets Scarcity whispers in your ear, keeping you from being friends with Abundance.

Together, we’ll look at the three main categories of Scarcity--time, money, and love.

All you have to do is choose a time and day that works for your schedule, download the workbook, and start tenderly feeling into the truth of where Scarcity lives in your life.

By the end, you’ll have the tools you need to make friends with Abundance, create more opportunities, and step through the door of possibility.

Melanie's face

I’m A LOT. No, really. I am a lot. I know it. I’m good with it. Since I arrived, I have been an overwhelming human to most who encounter me. I’ve been told that I’m too tall. That my hair looks ugly. That I just want to be the center of attention. That I get up too early. That I push myself too hard. That I’m too picky. That I’m too loud. That I talk too much. That I look masculine. That I’m too hard to love.I’ve heard it all. And I’ve repeated other people’s words to myself for far too many years....

I was chatting with a friend recently about how this year has been a lot. A LOT. It’s been the hardest year of my adult life by a long shot, yet it’s also been healing, full of beauty, and dripping in lessons. Although it’s been hard, I’ve become more myself this year than in any past years. My sense of self has solidified and I’ve stepped into being unapologetically me. So as I was sitting with my friend reflecting on all of this, we decided that 2024 has been "Awfully Wonderful." I love a...

Candler Oak in Savannah Georgia

I spent last week in Savannah with a client who’s shifting her focus from her successful career to the kind of business that brings her deep joy and adventure. We spent time shifting old patterns of scarcity, uncovering beautiful childhood memories, and painting a sunset in watercolor. The whole trip was truly remarkable. And then I came home to this: Huffiness over the Pantone color of the year being Mocha Mousse A health insurance CEO was assassinated in NYC The Canadian postal service is...
