When nothing else seems to be working…

TLDR: Are you in a big transition and not sure how to get where you want to go? I'm hosting a free 2-part workshop that will give you the direction you've been searching for. Click here to register!

So here's where we're at.

In my last episodes (#1 & #2), we've caught you in the middle of a conundrum.

You've just realized that what got you here won't get you there.

In other words, you've used every bit of your book-smarts or street-smarts to get you where you are, and things have stalled.

Plateaued.

You’re making good money, but that was baseline for your bigger plan.

Your income doesn’t match your output.

You can’t see the path ahead without still feeling stuck in this chair.

You start to research new tactics.

You try a new strategy.

You wonder if you need to change industries or even careers.

You can’t seem to get a hold of the people you’ve always done great work alongside.

That’s when you began reaching out to your smart friends for advice.

Most of them say the same things: change your offer, change your target client, change your delivery, ask for referrals.

But you’ve already done those. You've thought of that.

You’ve flipped through thousands of courses, strategies, and ideas.

You’ve gotta change things quickly, or your life is gonna look a lot different than it does right now—and you’re not the only mouth you feed.

It isn’t until someone stops you one day that you slow down for one sweet, tender moment to listen to what you think is the dumbest question you've ever heard:

“How do you get grounded?”

It catches you off-guard.

You don’t even know if you can define what “grounded” means, let alone tell someone how to get grounded.

You’ve only used that word to punish your kids.

What does that have to do with business strategy?

Let’s zoom out for a second.

When you were a kid, you’d lay in the grass for hours.

You’d run around barefoot in the dirt.

You’d sit under a tree with a book.

Maybe you’d even write poetry or stories. You’d allow your imagination to run wild. You’d eat when you were hungry and nap when you were tired.

You were grounded.

Not in the bad, punishing way, but in the good, “I feel totally connected to nature and in my body” sort of way.

You were living intuitively: listening to your intuition in every moment without a care in the world for the consequences.

As you grew up, though, you started to learn about consequences.

You began to discover things about the world.

As that happened, your old ideas from childhood about how the world worked got replaced by facts and statistics and quizzes.

As your intelligence grew, you began to grow more and more distant from your imagination and intuition: the original sources of that childlike wonder and awe.

But little did you know that lurking behind all those smarts, your intuition was waiting patiently for you to come back and once again, just like when you were a kid, listen to its voice: your true voice.

You probably sometimes get a gut-feeling about a person or idea.

You may have even heard whispers that sounded like whichever higher power you believe in.

You’ve even gotten a great idea or two standing in the shower doing “nothing.”

These are all examples of your intuition peeking in trying to be a part of the conversation.

Yet most of us have so much going on in our heads that we accidentally shoo our intuition away and discount it whenever our intelligence doesn’t support whatever it says.

Our intuitive ideas can sometimes feel “crazy” or “out there” because they’re not typically based in something we know to be true from our education and experience.

But they are true, nonetheless.

Your intuition is your superpower.

It’s the superpower of every human being who chooses to tap into their full potential. This is your gift. To be able to tap into your higher knowing and see what’s possible.

But how do you do that?

Well, it all starts very simply—in order to change our minds, we have to start with our bodies first.

In this case, it means getting back to that grounded state we were in as children.

Here are a few ideas on how to do just that:

  • Put down your phone and go for a walk with bare feet.
  • Go outside and lay in the grass.
  • Sit under a tree and listen.
  • Go sit by the ocean or river or lake.
  • Go stand in the shower or lay in a bathtub.
  • Walk away from your computer and have a conversation with the trees.

It doesn’t matter what you do as long as the end result is you letting GO of what you believe HAS to happen and starting to OPEN UP to see what your intuition has been waiting to tell you.

Your intuition is the most important asset you have, yet many people don’t even realize they have it.

So, what would happen if you stopped focusing on:

  • how smart you are,
  • how good you are at your job, and
  • how far you’ve gotten...

...and you began to focus on:

  • where you could go,
  • what you could be doing instead, and
  • how you could get grounded enough to build the life you desire?

I was on a call the other day with a client who said:

“I’m so frustrated that I can’t find the thing I’m supposed to do next.”

My question to her was similar to the one above:

“When was the last time you just stopped and listened?”

You can probably guess her answer.

Maybe you have the same answer.

What got you here won’t get you there.

So, try something a little crazy.

Slow down, go sit under a tree, and see what shifts.

Then, once you feel grounded, grab a spot in The Intuitive Audit workshop - I’m hosting it over two days so we can dive deep into your life (August 21) and work (August 22) while giving you the space to tap into your intuition, even if you’ve never known how.

Sent from MY intuition!

xoxo
Melanie

I’m A LOT. No, really. I am a lot. I know it. I’m good with it. Since I arrived, I have been an overwhelming human to most who encounter me. I’ve been told that I’m too tall. That my hair looks ugly. That I just want to be the center of attention. That I get up too early. That I push myself too hard. That I’m too picky. That I’m too loud. That I talk too much. That I look masculine. That I’m too hard to love.I’ve heard it all. And I’ve repeated other people’s words to myself for far too many years....

I was chatting with a friend recently about how this year has been a lot. A LOT. It’s been the hardest year of my adult life by a long shot, yet it’s also been healing, full of beauty, and dripping in lessons. Although it’s been hard, I’ve become more myself this year than in any past years. My sense of self has solidified and I’ve stepped into being unapologetically me. So as I was sitting with my friend reflecting on all of this, we decided that 2024 has been "Awfully Wonderful." I love a...

Candler Oak in Savannah Georgia

I spent last week in Savannah with a client who’s shifting her focus from her successful career to the kind of business that brings her deep joy and adventure. We spent time shifting old patterns of scarcity, uncovering beautiful childhood memories, and painting a sunset in watercolor. The whole trip was truly remarkable. And then I came home to this: Huffiness over the Pantone color of the year being Mocha Mousse A health insurance CEO was assassinated in NYC The Canadian postal service is...
